Reinad

Our stylish Reinad 1940's brooch is a whopping 4 inches tall. The glory of this brooch would be the beautiful trapezium shaped amber faceted glass— really beautiful! The brooch boasts almost 4" in height and is no doubt well made. A starburst of paste crystal rhinestones make-up the center of this lovely brooch and carry on to the graceful leaves. ID-456

I will give the same caution that I do about all paste costume jewelry—One thing about any paste costume jewelry that is 50 plus years old. If you have not purchased it before I advise that you check the stones from time to time to make sure they are all secure. I think it is too much to expect from any glue to hold every stone in place for 50 to 60 years. In many cases designers would paste and prong set rhinestones in the same setting so checking to make sure that your rhinestones are secure is a good practice to get into so as not to lose one of these well preserved stones.

Reinad Jewelry History —

Reinad manufactured jewelry between 1922 and 1954. Reinad Fifth Avenue made jewelry for other companies, including Boucher, Carnegie, and Eisenberg. They also had a retail novelty line named Chanel Novelty Co. which was short-lived because of a conflict with Coco Chanel jewelry which objected to the use of the name "Chanel." The jewelry that Reinad marketed was excellent quality using classic designs and top grade materials. It is rare in the collectible market. Jewelry marked SCEPTRON features classic 1940s retro designs and is made using sterling silver.

Robin Deutsch wrote a wonderful detailed piece about REINAD for Costume Jewelry Collectors International—a very good read.
