A flirty brooch for sure! The unique multi-tiered design gives this brooch dimension. Rhinestone chain drips from all edges giving it movement and making it come alive. The color combination is beautiful — two colors you might not think to put together, but they really work well together. The actual blue is a bit difficult to nail down as it is a cross between teal and sapphire — very pretty! The silver-tone back bears the designers signature cartouche with a rollover clasp. The metal is clean and looks unworn. ID-271

Measurements:
The brooch measures approximately 1.75 inches in width.

Alice Caviness Jewelry History —

Alice Caviness Jewelry History—1940's - late 90's - Alice Caviness began her career as a fashion and glove model. She was a lovely petite blond with a southern drawl and a dynamic but feminine personality. Capitalizing on her success in the garment industry, Alice Caviness began production of costume jewelry after WWII. This jewelry line was to compliment her fashion designs, much like Chanel and Schiaparelli. She had an abundance of flair, garnering attention for her impeccable style of dress. Her jewelry reflects her sense of taste. It was sold only in the finest stores. Based in Long Island, NY. Alice Caviness designed most of her costume jewelry and was also involved in production and sales.

Two designers employed by Caviness were Lois Steever and Camille Petronzio, both being young when they joined. Alice Caviness retired around 1980 and then died in 1983. Afterward, Lois Stevens went on to run the company until about 2000. Camille Petronzio went on to work at Miriam Haskell. All Caviness pieces are characterized by the use of high-quality materials and design.
